5 Easy Kimchi Recipes

1. Kimchi Fried Rice (Kimchi Bokkeumbap)

Ingredients :

1 cup cooked rice

1/2 cup minced kimchi

1 egg

1 small onion, chopped

1 tablespoon soy sauce

Sesame oil

Sesame seeds (optional)

Preparation :

In a pan, heat a little sesame oil.

Sauté the onion until transparent, then add the kimchi.

Add rice and mix well. Pour soy sauce.

Separately, fry an egg and serve it over the rice.

Garnish with sesame seeds.

2. Kimchi Omelette

Ingredients :

4 eggs

1/2 cup minced kimchi

1 chopped spring onion

Salt and pepper

Oil for frying

Preparation :

Beat the eggs with salt and pepper.

Add the kimchi and spring onion.

Heat the oil in a pan and pour in the mixture.

Cook until golden brown on both sides. Serve hot.

3. Kimchi Soup (Kimchi Jjigae)

Ingredients :

1 cup kimchi

200g thinly sliced pork (or tofu for a vegetarian version)

1 onion

2 cloves of garlic

2 cups vegetable broth or dashi

Soy sauce

Chili powder

Preparation :

In a pot, fry the garlic with the meat or tofu.

Add the kimchi and onion and cook for a few minutes.

Pour in the broth and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Season to taste with soy sauce and chili pepper.

5. Kimchi Stuffed Dumplings (Kimchi Mandu)

Ingredients :

1 cup minced kimchi

200g minced pork (or tofu for the vegetarian version)

1 chopped spring onion

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1 clove of garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

Dumpling discs (you can find them in Asian shops or make them at home with water and flour)

Oil for frying

Preparation :

Mix the kimchi, meat (or tofu), spring onion, ginger, garlic and soy sauce in a bowl.

Take a gnocchi disc and place a teaspoon of filling in the center.

Moisten the edges of the disc with a little water and fold it in half, sealing the edges well.

Cook the gnocchi in boiling water for 5-6 minutes, or sauté them in a pan with a little oil until golden.

Serve with soy sauce or hot sauce for dipping.

These dumplings are a great combination of Korean flavors and can be served as an appetizer or main course.

4. Kimchi and Pork Tacos

Ingredients :

Corn Tortillas

200g grilled or sautéed pork

1/2 cup kimchi

Fresh coriander

Hot sauce

Preparation :

Grill or sauté the pork.

Heat the tortillas.

Add the meat and kimchi on top of the tortillas, garnishing with cilantro and hot sauce.
